Curriculum Overview - KITAH GIMEL Teacher: Ruth Halpern Shalom Ivrit I & Prayer Companion Script Writing Vocabulary Workbook The Explorer’s Bible I: From Creation to the Exodus My Jewish Year Siddur Shema Yisrael Haggadah Our goals are as follows: HEBREW 1. to learn to read Hebrew. 2. to learn to write Hebrew script. 3. to increase the Hebrew vocabulary. 4. to be able to write and say simple sentences. JEWISH LIFE 1. to learn about Jewish holidays & Shabbat, with the appropriate customs, laws, stories, blessings and traditions. 2. to learn various blessings over food. 3. to learn about kashrut. 4. to learn about and practice tzedakah. 5. to learn about the Synagogue. 6. to learn to pray shacharit (morning prayers) 7. to study the structure of the Siddur. 8. to understand selected prayers. 9. we will celebrate receiving our siddurim at Kabbalat Siddurim on Shabbat morning, February 27; please save this date! CLASSROOM PROCEDURES: Every student must have his/books everyday. Every boy must have a kippah every day. HOMEWORK: The students will have to read every day at home.
